QBQ! Training

Eliminate Blame, Complaining, Procrastination and Victim Thinking
and Inspire a Culture of Personal Accountability
Through QBQ! Training

  • Why do we have to go through all this change?
  • When is someone going to train me?
  • When is that department going to do its job right?
  • Who dropped the ball?
  • When am I going to find good people?
  • Why can't they communicate better?
  • Who is going to solve the problem?
  • Must I do everything MYSELF?

Have you ever heard questions like these? If so, QBQ! Training is on target for your organization! The Question Behind the Question, (QBQ) is a powerful and practical training process that works to make personal accountability a core value. QBQ! goes beyond the common topics of change management, customer service, team building, supervisory skills, motivation and attitude, to lay a foundation for delivering concrete results in every arena.

QBQ! The Question Behind the Question Training, addresses the most important issue in organizations and society today: personal accountability. A lack of personal accountability has resulted in an epidemic of blame, complaining, procrastination and victim thinking. No organization or individual can achieve goals, compete in the marketplace, fulfill a vision, or develop people and teams without personal accountability.

The solution involves an entirely new approach. We can no longer ask questions that result in blame, complaining procrastination and victim thinking, we must learn to ask the Question Behind the Question:

       Old QuestionsNew Questions
Why do we have to go through all this change?   + QBQ! =   How can I adapt to the changing world?
Who dropped the ball?                                        + QBQ! =   What can I do to make a difference?
When will we get better systems?        + QBQ! =   How can I succeed with the tools I have?
Why can't they do it right?           + QBQ =    How can I contribute to their success?

Succinct, insightful, and practical, QBQ! The Question Behind the Question training provides a method for putting personal accountability into daily action, which can bring astonishing results: goals are executed, problems get solved, barriers come down, service improves, teamwork grows, and people adapt to change.

Why QBQ!? Because it works. Here’s what a QBQ, Inc. client  has to say …
"QBQ! is the absolute best tool for making personal accountability come to life in an organization. This easy-to-implement idea is one that works for senior management as well as the front line—and everyone in between. We are committed to making accountability a core value at Husqvarna and QBQ! shows us the way."
Debbie Slocum, VP of HR, Husqvarna Construction Products

The Question Behind the Question (QBQ!) method of practicing personal accountability came about as a result of many years of research in the organizational development field. The discovery we made is this:

When people ask questions like, "Why do we have to go through all this change?" and "Why can’t we find good people?" it’s nothing more than victim-thinking. "When will we get better systems?" and "When will someone solve the problem?" lead to procrastination. And "Who dropped the ball?" and "Whose idea was this anyway?" are all about blame and finger-pointing.

QBQ! provides the "how to" of personal accountability by helping people turn these questions around and ask The Question Behind the Question. QBQ! eradicates the common yet dangerous traps of victim-thinking, procrastination, and blame. When this occurs, productivity, teamwork, morale, creativity, safety, communication, and problem-solving are enhanced. There is also a faster adaptation to change by your people, which is critical for competing in today’s global economy.

Designed for and practiced by the individual—but beneficial to the group and team—QBQ! material is practical, universal, and timeless. It applies to organizations in every industry—and to people at every level. Just ask Debbie at Husqvarna!

Personal accountability content is foundational. When an organization trains people on customer service, management, sales, change, leadership—or any other topic—and personal accountability has not been established as a core value within the organization, training dollars are often wasted.

Facilitation
To reduce costs and personalize the message, QBQ! Training can easily be facilitated internally by your organization. The content is taught on dvd by QBQ! author John Miller. Renee Waller will work with your facilitators to ensure they're fully prepared to conduct the training sessions.

Target Audience
This training is designed for leaders and staff members at all levels.

Course Length
The material is covered in six hours, which can easily be split between two half-day sessions, one full-day session, or four 1.5 hour sessions.

Investment
After starting QBQ! Training, many organizations reinforce it every year, and pay only for the new people they want to want to train. That way, QBQ! is not a passing training fad, it's the tool used to build a core value of personal accountability. The initial investment carries out over a number of years, and helps make personal accountability a core value at every level in the organization.

The training investment is based on the number of people you want to train. Contact Renee to learn more. renee@mentorrx.com

QBQ Cost Justification: Is QBQ worth the price?
If an organization has a team or workforce of 50 members, with average salaries of $30,000, the cost of compensation equals $1.5 Million. If 30% of the workers are beginning to lose or have lost motivation and competence, the potential for loss runs up to $450,000. If QBQ! Training could save half of the 15 people at the burnout stage, by moving them back to being motivated and competent, the company would save up to $225,000 in lost productivity, drag on motivated workers, negative impact on customers and replacement costs of lost workers. With a $9,000 investment in QBQ! Training, as much as $225,000 could be saved. This is a Return on the Investment (ROI) of $25 to $1 on the money invested in QBQ! Training. Is QBQ! worth the money? With an ROI of 25 to 1,or $225,000/$9,000, what do you think?

Participants say that QBQ! is the most practical, fun and easily applicable training they've experienced. They're thrilled to have concrete tools that help them eliminate Blame, Complaining, Victim Thinking and Procrastination, and Inspire a Culture of Personal Accountability.

Will you work to make personal accountability a core value in your organization? It will likely be one of the best investments you ever make.

QBQ! FANS

We've had problems prioritizing and executing our goals. Old behaviors were in the way of getting things done. QBQ! Training is the best way to eliminate blame, complaining, procrastination and victim thinking and inspire a culture of change through personal accountability. This is the foundation upon which everything should be built--and it's the best training I've ever experienced. With the excuses out of the way, we can meet and exceed our goals.
Kathy Bell, R.N., Director, Employee Development, St. John's Medical Center, Tulsa, OK

QBQ training is helping us move positively through the difficult changes we're faced with in our organization. People started using the practical tools that help them ask better questions right away. The improvement in the way departments are interacting with each other is amazing. They're solving problems and embracing change. We can't wait to get this out to more of our people.
Pam Jackson, CFO, South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center

QBQ! Training has eliminated the "we've always done it that way" mindset. Creating a NO BLAME environment made staff much more forthcoming about their performance and ways to improve. The training has enhanced overall job satisfaction” and our surveys are now showing these great results. QBQ! is a practical tool that helps us move positively through change.
Sharon Harris, Director, Laboratory, Harris Methodist Hospital

I've facilitated QBQ! sessions for 80 team members here at Dell with another 90 scheduled. The message is catching on throughout the organization. People are experiencing transformative thinking! They realize that QBQ! is for them, that they don't need to wait on the corporation to implement a new process or program. QBQ! is the catalyst we needed to get us excited about working together and to practice personal accountability daily. Thank you!
